Missing woman with dementia found safe

Hallstead, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania State Police have found an elderly woman with dementia who went missing Tuesday afternoon in Susquehanna County.

Shelby Jean Colwell, 76, of Hallstead, was found about one day after an alert was issued for her disappearance.

Colwell was seen around 4 p.m. Tuesday walking north on Main Street in Hallstead. She left her apartment at the Howard Emerson Apartments on Lackawanna Avenue just minutes before, according to state police in Gibson.

She was found around noon on Wednesday in good physical condition, state police said.

According to state police, she was spotted by a watercraft rescue team about two miles north of her home, in an area between the railroad tracks and the Susquehanna River in Conklin.
