Montrose School District Investigating Gun Threat

Montrose School District and state police investigate reports of student plan to bring gun to school on Friday December, 21st.

Montrose, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania State Police and the Montrose Area School District are investigating reports that a student planned to bring a gun to school this Friday December 21, 2012.

School District officials identified the student and brought him and his parents in for questioning.

They heard the student planned to bring the weapons to school on the occasion of the Mayan Doomsday.

Friday marks the end of the Mayan Calendar, and has sparked a belief by some that it tells when the world will end.

The student will do his school work from home this week, but he has not been suspended.

The school he attends in Montrose was not identified.

There will also be additional security at Montrose public schools on Friday,

Superintendent Michale Ognosky said he has questioned more than 60 people and has found no credible threats to the school.
