More jobs lost at IBM

February 27, 2014 Updated Feb 27, 2014 at 8:00 PM EDT

Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Recent job cuts are underway for IBM, including some here in the Binghamton area. That's according to the official website for the IBM employees union.

The website reports that 10 to 15 jobs have been cut in Endicott.

In Essex Junction, Vermont, about 150 jobs have also been cut.

Lee Conrad, the national coordinator of the union, said the cuts stem from IBM wanting to cut cost and boost profits.

He said IBM is trying to boost their share price and will do so by taking a one-billion dollar charge for job cuts which will result in 15,000 people losing their jobs worldwide.
