Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local event cheers to Mother's Day celebrations. A Mother's Day Wine Weekend Getaway was held at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel.

It's never too early to celebrate how special a mother can be, and some special treats were sealed with a taste of New York state wines.

"This is the first time we've actually done this," said Mary Anne Bonavina. "You know just mother and daughter because usually it's the father, or the sister's brothers and so forth, so it was nice."

Now they can enjoy a weekend getaway for just the two of them.

The event brings entertainment for the New York wineries as well.

"Just to watch them have a good time," said Tracy Nichols of Ashley Lynn Winery. "That's the fun part about these events everyone usually has a great time so it makes it worth while."

Wineries at the event have a lot to brag about. Everything is made in New York state.

"We're very passionate about promoting local," said Dan Tompkins of Upstate Wine Country. "And it's all about especially agricultural items. Things that are grown, that are hand crafted in NYS we are passionate about."

From sweet Apple wine to dry Red Cat the afternoon was meant to try them all.

"It's nice to be able to travel across the state to let people know that we use New York apples to make our wine and just to get our name out there," Nichols said.
