(WBNG Binghamton) The superintendent of a Western New York school district is found shot to death in front of his home.

Action News has since learned that he has ties to the area.

Before becoming superintendent of the Clymer Central School District, Keith Reed Jr. served as principal of the Sherburne-Earlville High School for more than four years, from Aug. 2005 to November 2011.
School leaders have since put up a remembrance on their website.

According to affiliate WIVB, no one had heard from Reed since Friday.

Reed's body was found Monday with several gunshot wounds in front of his Town of Clymer home.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is still looking for answers.

An autopsy Tuesday confirmed what type of gun was used. but, the sheriff isn't saying publicly what type.

Chautauqua County Sheriff, Joseph Gerace said, "We're looking at everything that could be related. We have several different agencies working with us, including the FBI and the State Police because we need the assistance."

Sheriff Gerace says that investigators have been in contact with Cattaragus County sheriff's investigators to compare notes on a similar murder Friday night where a man was shot to death in his home.
