Athens Township, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania State Police have not been asked to get involved in an investigation into human remains found in Bradford County.

Athens Township Police refused to comment on last Friday's find.

The location of the remain has still not been disclosed.

The police department and the Bradford County coroners office are investigating with an anthropologist.

Nothing is known about the identity, sex, age or race of the remains at this time.

People in the community are shocked by the news that many only learned when being told by Action News.

It raises both question and concern for those with missing loved ones.

"I'm sorry for the family and I hope it's no somebody I was close to because we've got somebody that's been missing for many years," Bonnie Puckett said.

Pennsylvania State Police said they have been in contact with township police, but at this point haven't been asked for assistance.

The Bradford County coroner said he would provide updates when available.
