(WBNG Binghamton) The Chenango Valley Central School District has made its superintendent position official.

The board of education announced Tuesday that interim Superintendent David Gill was awarded the position following an unanimous vote at a meeting Monday.

Gill served as interim superintendent of the district for the past three years.

The board credited Gill with taking helm during a difficult time and an uncertain future.

They also said Gill provided a vision.

Board President Gerald Abbey, Jr., said, “His steady, thoughtful guidance has helped position Chenango Valley to meet the challenges of the future, both fiscally and academically.”

Gill was interim superintendent during the exploration of a merger with the Chenango Forks Central School District.

“We are confident that Mr. Gill is the best person for the job,” added Abbey. “We are honored that he has accepted our offer of a three-year contract to continue leading our district as superintendent.”
