(WBNG Binghamton) The results are in for this year's Broome County STOP DWI crackdown. The program's coordinator says the Southern Tier has a long way to go in reducing drunk driving.

STOP DWI coordinator Chris Marion used December 31 as an example. He said there was one check point that night.

A total of 413 cars went through it. Police issued 14 tickets and five DWI's, and 45 cars were searched.

There were other checkpoints throughout Johnson City over the holiday weekend.

A grant from Governor Andrew Cuomo's Traffic Safety committee funded the crackdown.

Marion says drivers can expect increased patrols throughout the winter and spring.
