Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's almost time to pack up those book bags and lunchboxes and head back to the classroom.

As students prepare for the upcoming school year, so do teachers in our area.

New teachers to the Binghamton City School District met at Columbus School Monday afternoon.

From there, they went on a one-hour bus tour as part of their orientation.

About 40 new teachers filled the bus, each excited to visit the schools and learn about the city.

"It’s my first time in the school system,” said new dance teacher at Binghamton High School, Chelsea Gavazza. “I taught all around at studios, competitive and non-competitive. Lived in Brooklyn for awhile, Staten Island, Florida, all over...taught and performed. But this is my first time in one place, Binghamton City School District, so I can't wait. I'm very excited."

Gavazza told Action News that she is excited to bring dance into the local curriculum, as it will serve as a way for students to express themselves.
