Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A more than 40-year-old pool in Johnson City may have seen its last swimmers.
Johnson City's Northside Pool is closed for the second year in row and Mayor Greg Deemie (D) said more than likely, it will never open again.
Deemie said for the pool to get up to safety standards, it will need to be gutted and pipes would need to be replaced, which could cost upwards of $300,000.
He added that the number of people swimming there has gone down in the last few years and the cost to replace it is not economically feasible.
The village has not made a definite decision to demolish the pool, but Deemie said it is a very likely possibility.
The Spray Park and Floral Avenue pool are currently open.
