Norwich N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) Three men are behind bars after Norwich police found them in possession of more than 10 pounds of marijuana early Sunday morning.
Norwich police arrested 34-year-old Wilson Hatton Sr., of Sidney, 30-year old Heath Oakes, of Cincinnatus and 32-year-old Wayne Church Sr., of Norwich.
All three were arrested for criminal possession of marijuana in the first degree, a felony.
Norwich police was called to Mitchell Street, for a report of a toddler crying on the street at approximately 4:30 a.m. Aug. 31.
When officers arrived, they found the 4-year old boy on the sidewalk yelling for his father.
Police said the boy told officers he was left alone in a parked car and was able to get out, looking for his father.
Officers were searching the area and came across, Hatton, the boy's father, leaving the basement of a home on Mitchell Street.
Upon further investigation, officers said they found Oakes and Church processing what police say is an "excess of 10 pounds" of marijuana in various stages.
"Some of the vegetation was still on the stalks, some was in bud form and some was bagged," said Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino in a news release.
During the investigation, Church is a parolee who was released from prison on May 7.
All three were arraigned in Norwich City Court and sent to Chenango County Jail where they remain waiting future court appearances.
Bail was set on Hatton and Oakes at $20,000. No bail was set on Church because of his parole status.
Hatton was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
The boy was turned over to a family member at the police station.
