Officer injured during arrest

Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Johnson City Police Department arrested Tyquan C. Gumbs, 20, of Johnson City for assault in the second degree (felony), resisting arrest (misdemeanor) and aggravated unlicensed operation (misdemeanor).

Johnson City police saw Gumbs driving a vehicle on Grand Avenue and officers knew that his driver's license was suspended.

Police stopped Gumbs who then got out of the car and ran. After a brief foot pursuit, Gumbs was taken into custody.

During the arrest, a police officer suffered a separated shoulder and was taken to UHS Wilson Hospital's emergency room.

Gumbs was arraigned in Village Court and was sent to the Broome County Jail.
