One dead, four injured in Delaware County crash

Town of Colchester, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One person is dead and four people were injured after an SUV and a jeep collided head-on in Delaware County.

It happened on on County Highway 7, or Cat Hollow Road, in the Town of Colchester at approximately 10:00 a.m. Thursday, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

William Sharpless, 48, of Ninevah, the driver and sole occupant of the SUV, died at the scene after he was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driving in the opposite direction.

The driver of the jeep, Crest Wood, 30, of the Bronx, and all three passengers in his jeep were seriously injured.

Wood and his passengers, Alnie Chisholm, 34, Georgette King, 19, Yolanda Jones, 21, all of the Bronx, were taken to Harris Hospital in Liberty and later transferred to Westchester Medical Center.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to deputies.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Downsville and Roscoe-Rockland Fire Departments and Delaware County Highway Department crews who assisted with traffic control while the highway was closed down for several hours during the accident reconstruction investigation and clean up.
