Teenager dies after Binghamton shooting

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The victim of Friday's shooting, Scott Wright Jr., 19, has died, according to Binghamton Police.

The Binghamton Police Department said Scott Wright Jr., 19, died at approximately 3:58 a.m., Monday from the gunshot wound he received over the weekend.

At 7:40 a.m. Saturday, Binghamton Police arrested Andre Lee, 21 of Binghamton, at a house on Griswold Street.

The Binghamton SWAT team searched the home and Lee was found hiding in an attic crawl space.

Just after 11 p.m. Friday, police responded to the shooting, near Town & Country Apartments, located at 100 Robert St. in Binghamton.

When officers arrived, they found Scott Wright Jr. in front of building 18. Wright had been shot in the stomach, according to police.

Police said Wright was transported to Wilson Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.

Before the shooting, police said Lee hit 19-year-old Seth West in the head with a glass bottle. West was treated and released at a local hospital, according to police.

Lee is charged with Murder in the 2nd degree, according to Binghamton Police. He is currently being held in the Broome County Jail.

Detectives said this was not gang related and was an isolated incident.

Police said they believe they have recovered the gun used by Lee.
Police also charged Tichelle Bethea, 21, of Binghamton, with hindering prosecution.
