Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An elementary school in the Union-Endicott school district teamed up with a local restaurant to make sure students have the school supplies they need.

George F. Johnson Elementary received school supplies from California Grill on Tuesday.

This is the start of Operation School Supplies for the school, which the restaurant is helping make sure students are prepared with the tools they need to learn.

"Many families are not able to meet that supply list, we certainly do not want need to get in the way of success,” said Larry Dake, principal at George F. Johnson, “It's a way for us to level the playing field for all students and help all students be successful."

California Grill has been working with the school all summer to bring supplies in time of the school year.

Dake says students often need folders, pencils and notebooks during the school year and that all those tools are building blocks to success.

School starts next Wednesday, Sept. 3 for Union-Endicott students.
