Our Lady of Sorrows selling 2,000 pumpkins

Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The front lawn of Our Lady of Sorrows Church is covered with around 2,000 pumpkins.

The church's youth group is selling the pumpkins with proceeds being split between them and the pumpkin's farmers in New Mexico.

The pumpkins were grown by Navajo Indian Farmers and hauled by tractor-trailer to the Southern Tier.

"It brings me closer to God," said Robby Brown, a member of the church's youth group. "It just keeps a check on who I am and what I need to do to keep me whole."

Youth group members are taking shifts after school and on the weekends to help with the selling of these pumpkins.

Pumpkins are sold Monday through Friday from 9:30 am until 6:00 pm. On the weekends, their sold from noon until 4 p.m. Pumpkin prices vary from $0.25 to $25.00.
