Albany Twp, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Pennsylvania State Police say a couple in Albany Township locked up a child with Cerebral Palsy.

Mary Beth Frankenfield, 49 and Richard Frankenfield, 55, both of Dushore, are charged with False Imprisonment of a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. They were arraigned and sent to the Bradford County Jail with bail set at $85,000.

State Police say an investigation determined the Frankenfields constructed a cage by screwing plywood on top of a crib. For extended periods of time in 2010, they locked the then 10 year old girl inside.

At age 11, they kept the girl in a 4 foot wide closet locked from the outside. They provided a crib mattress to sleep on and toys. The girl is now 12 years old.

Troopers say the couple told investigators it was done to protect her and keep her from getting into things.
