Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Parlor City 5K is a month away and race organizers say they want to reach 500 participants this year.
The race will take place on July 13 at 9 a.m.
This is the 6th year of the race that starts on the Court Street Bridge, loops around the city, and finishes back at the bridge.
The course is considered flat and fast by race organizers.
Mayor Matt Ryan said the race brings a lot of visitors to the city and highlights the local jazz scene.
For the second year in a row, the race will be started by Connor Ford, the son of a member of the Triple Cities Runners' Club.
Portions of the proceeds from the race will go toward The Magic Paintbrush Project which provides community engagement activities for people with special needs.
