Fatal Accident Shuts Down Parts of 17

Deposit, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A fatal accident closes parts of NY Route 17 Friday morning.

According to NYS Department of Transportation, Route 17 is closed in both directions from Broome, Delaware County Line to Town of Deposit, Town of Hancock Line until 10 a.m.

New York State Police say at around 11 p.m. Thursday there was a car crash at the intersection of route 17 and Evans Road in the Town of Deposit.

When Robert Stanton, of Deposit, attempted to cross Route 17, he was hit on his driver's side by a tractor trailer.

Stanton was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer had no injuries.
