Driver arrested after hitting pedestrian

Elmira, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Elmira Police Department responded to a report of a car accident involving a pedestrian.

Around 7:45 a.m. Monday, authorities were dispatched to the corner of North Main Street and West Second Street, according to police.

The pedestrian involved received serious injuries and was treated on scene by the Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance. He was then transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The driver of the car involved in the accident did not stop. Police found and arrested the driver shortly after the incident.

The investigation is on-going.
