Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Personality and its impact in the workplace was the topic on the menu at the Binghamton Rotary Club luncheon on Tuesday.
Assistant Professor, Dr. Seth Spain, teaches Organizational Behavior at Binghamton University's School of Management.
He talked to the Rotary Club about his research on "The Dark Side of Personality at Work."
Dr. Spain referred to the "Dark Triad" of personality that can be manipulative, narcissistic and antagonistic.
He says it’s important to understand how someone's personality can impact their relationships with co-workers.
"I'd like them to come away with the appreciation for the individual psychology of their employees and an appreciation for how to balance their employee needs with their business needs,” said Dr. Spain.
He also talked about how to recognize employee strengths versus employee weaknesses.
Dr. Spain had several articles on this type of research published in scholarly journals.
