Westford, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A severed phone line leaves majority of residents in an Otsego County town without phone service including the ability to call 911.
Otsego County Emergency Services reported that on Sunday, November 11 around 7:30 p.m. the main phone line providing service to the Town of Westford was cut. The damaged line has left most of the town without phone service and the capability to dial 911 in the event of an emergency.
Verizon repair crews have been notified and there is no estimated restoration time.
The Westford Fire Station on 1812 County Highway 34 is open for residents to report emergencies to until phone service is restored.
Otsego County Emergency Services would like to remind residents this does not affect cell phone service in the area and that cell phones can be used to report an emergency via 911.
