BInghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The owners of Ellis Brothers Furniture store are moving past the fire that burned down one of their buildings in April and focusing on steps to rebuild in a new location in downtown Binghamton.

While crews are still working to fully demolish building two of the Ellis Brother Furniture store, Friday morning, the owners submitted a plan to the city to level out this land and make it a parking lot.

The parking lot will serve building one of the Ellis Brothers Furniture store, which is still open and was untouched by April's fire, and it will also serve a new second building.

The Ellis Brothers owners have also decided which location they want to move into.

"Today we made an offer, we have actually signed a contract on number one Hawley Street," said Charles Ellis, Vice President of Ellis Bros. Fine Furniture.

It is not set in stone that 1 Hawley St. will be the new location for building two of Ellis Brothers Furniture store because the proposed plans still need to be approved by the city.

Ellis said the mayor's office and the city have been extremely helpful and supportive throughout this process.
