Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Amidst the funny cars and funny mascots, a unique sound rolled down Main and Court Street on Saturday.
The sound of Caribbean music filled the air thanks to the Vertical Focus Home School Steel Drum Band.
The band marched in the annual Boscov's Holiday Parade.
"(The steel drum) is a really cool instrument," said Curtis Hahn, band bass player. "I gotta keep the rhythm going."
The group is made up of a dozen home schoolers who practicing every Thursday for two hours.
"I'm going to be keeping all of the kids on track counting them in on the songs," said Elizabeth Gilda, assistant band instructor.
"Kind of guiding them and just making sure they all have a great time."
The band has been drumming for four years, playing in parades and events around the community.
Being one of the only steel drums in the area, they hope to keep the beat going.
The Action News team also marched in the parade.
Our very own Cristina Frank and Dave Greber were the emcees.
