Police: Man pepper sprayed in attempted armed robbery

Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two minors were taken into custody and police are looking for their accomplice, all accused of attempted armed robbery.

According to Ithaca Police, the three suspects sprayed a man in the face with pepper spray before trying to rob him.

It happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning on West State Street in Ithaca.

The man told police he was walking down the street when the three people threatened him with a knife and demanded money. They then sprayed the man with pepper spray from something resembling a water gun.

The suspects chased the man as he was trying to run away, until he reached a group of people that helped him.

Two of the three people were caught and identified by the victim. They're both minors.

Police are still looking for the third person who they said is an adult.
