Colchester, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Delaware County Emergency Services temporarily closed Route 17 from Roscoe to Hancock.
Cars were lined up for miles, waiting to be allowed through.
Shortly before noon, Emergency Services received multiple reports of vehicle accidents on the stretch of 17 in East Branch.
As many 40 vehicles were involved in accidents or off the road.
A few getting towed away as Action News arrived on the scene.
The viaduct is an elevated portion of Route 17.
Emergency services say it iced over.
Seven ambulances and 3 fire departments responded to the scene.
Plenty of State Troopers were also there, helping drivers file accident reports.
No major injuries were reported.
