Preston Officially Announces Office of Energy Development

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Broome County announces the opening of the Office of Energy Development.

Executive Debbie Preston its main goal will be to find cheaper energy solutions for homes and businesses across the county.

The executive’s office says it will research and offer guidance on the use and development alternative and renewable energy sources as well as the conventional.

"It will also serve as a central resource for activity when and if natural gas drill related issues are approved by New York State," said Preston.

Former IDA economic development coordinator Margaret Scarinizi will lead the office. Funding for the office comes from the Industrial Development Agency and the county's hotel/motel tax.
