(WBNG Binghamton) Governor Andrew Cuomo announces an initiative to reduce gun violence within the state.
Governor Cuomo is awarding $1,000,000 to 6 different community in New York State most impacted by gun violence.
The money will be used to create strategies and programs for anti-gun violence.
Newburgh, Albany, Schenectady, Brownsville, the Bronx, and Manhattan will all receive the money.
Governor Cuomo says although the crime rate is down 60% in New York, it's important to continue work, making sure New Yorkers and its streets are safe.
