(WBNG Binghamton) Churches in the Southern Tier may be seeing a change in leadership soon.

The Diocese in Syracuse is calling some of their pastors back home, leaving the Binghamton churches short-staffed and without any leadership.

Both Saint Cyril and the Holy Trinity Church are the two parishes losing leadership.

Father John Donovan, of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Johnson City, said he is willing to take up the responsibility for the other churches because he has no choice.

"There isn't anyone to send. So, the idea they are helping out. Fortunately, we can use several of our retired priests to assist us at this point, but we don't know how much longer that will be as well," said Father Donovan.

The change will come on September 1, after the Franciscan Friars remove their ministry from both Saint Cyril and the Holy Trinity Church.
