Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) More than 40 guest celebrities are ready to participate in an annual all-star golf tournament.

The 13th annual Jim "Mudcat" Grant All-Star Golf Tournament is sponsored by Security Mutual Life.

The tournament tees off Thursday morning at the Links at Hiawatha Landing in Apalachin.

Jim "Mudcat" Grant, organizer of the tournament and former professional baseball player, spoke Wednesday morning in anticipation of the event.

"We're anxious to get out on the golf course, we're anxious to also meet our fans and we're anxious to get on with it to raise some money for the five charities that we have here," said Grant.

The Broome County Urban League, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Binghamton, Catholic Charities of Broome County and the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse benefit each year.

This year, the Binghamton VA Outpatient Clinic and the Wounded Warrior Project are also included.

Wednesday night, participants were treated to a reception dinner. Many of those participating are veterans of the event, but there are some new faces who are anxious to get out on the course.

“Well I haven’t had a chance to hit anybody yet. I have to live up to my reputation 'The Hammer' so somewhere down the line I gotta hit something, so I guess eventually it is going to be a golf ball tomorrow” said Fred Williamson, former NFL player and now movie star.

The tournament has 36 sponsors this year, which is a new record for the event.
