Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) There was breakfast and talk about smart-energy Thursday morning at Binghamton University.

Wayne Jones, an inorganic chemist and interim dean of Harpur College Arts and Sciences, talked about, "The SUNY 2020 Smart-Energy Initiative: Binghamton University Supporting the Energy Economy, New York State and a Sustainable World."

Jones said students are critical to the success of these goals.

"One of the nice things about the SUNY 2020 initiative is that we are going to be growing by 2,000 students over the next four or five years," said Jones.

Jones says it's important to not only think about how to be more efficient, but to make sure it can continue for future generations.
