Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It was a gorgeous evening to get out and enjoy the B-Mets, where it was also STOP-DWI Traffic Safety Night.
It's a team effort along with the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee to keep people from taking to the road after consuming alcohol.
In addition to educational materials, there were demonstrations showing what it's like to drive while intoxicated and even when a person has just had a little drink.
Officials said they aren't trying to keep people from drinking, but want to make sure they do it responsibly.
"We've had fatalities in Broome County, so it's important to continue to get the message out," said Barbara Fiala, commissioner of New York State's Departmen of Motor Vehicles.
The Binghamton Mets were taking on the Trenton Thunder.
