Endwell, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Crews from multiple departments were called to a fire in Endwell Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just after 2 p.m. at 3636 Hoover Ave. No one was home, but crews were able to save a cat from inside the house.

Departments from Endwell, Endicott, Union-Center, and Vestal were able to contain the fire to back of the building.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire caused damage to the back of the house and an outside shed. Officials said many of the belongings were saved, but the house will not be suitable to live in for some time.

"There's just very minor damage to the first and second floor to the plaster paper. So, they will need some rebuilding in there and there is some smoke damage. But the structure on the back is still pretty sound," said Endwell Fire Chief Jeff Winchell.

The homeowner said he lost two classic cars that were in the shed, but everything else can be replaced.

He said no one was hurt and that's all that matters.

The man has been living in the Hoover Avenue home since 1987.

According to officials, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
