Rabid fox bites two, police warn residents

Ulysses, NY (WBNG Binghamton) After several sightings throughout town, a rabid fox bit two people on Monday.

The fox was seen in the area of Wilkins, Dubois and Hinging Post roads in Ulysses, according to New York State Police.

Police are investigating the reports along with the Tompkins County health and sheriff's offices.

Authorities said it is important to take extra caution while outdoors and be aware of the signs of rabies.

Ithaca police are encouraging the public to stay away from sickly-looking or disoriented animals, as well as those acting aggressive for no apparent reason.
