Walton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A lot of rain fell down in Delaware County on Wednesday, but that didn't keep crowds away from one of the biggest fairs in the area.

Ponchos, rain boots and umbrellas were a necessity at the 128th Delaware County fair on Wednesday, but the rain didn't scare people away.

"Doesn't bug us, no, we've been coming rain, shine, doesn't matter. We're here all week long," said Tiffany Watson, of Walton.

Watson wasn't the only unafraid of the rain. Hundreds of people embraced the showers and the mud to enjoy "Kids Day" at the fair.

An adorable baby contest drew crowds and smiles, while rides, without tires, still ran all day long despite the weather.

When the rain took a break, there was even a short NYSEG live line demonstration. NYSEG had to cancel at least two of its scheduled shows because of the rain on Wednesday. They will have shows scheduled for Thursday, when weather is supposed to be better.

Organizers of the fair said it's one of the biggest agriculture fairs in the northeast, and shows more than 1,000 animals throughout the week.

"It's amazing, we have over 400 head of cattle in the barn right now. I mean, you know, our livestock show is just phenomenal," said president of the Delaware County Fair Board Dan Hodges.

The grandstand was wet and muddy on Wednesday, but will be transformed with crowds of people on Saturday.

"This Saturday, Danielle Bradberry from last year's Voice is going to open for Easton Corbin," Hodges said.

As a part of Kids Day, the fair gave away about 150 bikes.

The fair continues through the weekend with the headliner concert on Saturday.
