Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Thanksgiving is right around the corner, but on Sunday night, local chefs gathered to prepare a special meal in Vestal.

The goal wasn't just to savor delicious dishes together, it was also to raise money for a scholarship.

The scholarship will help jump start an aspiring chef's career.

Eight chefs from eight different restaurants came together to prepare a menu at PS Restaurant in Vestal.

"What we did was each chef created their dish," Sylvana Dodd, PS Restaurant owner, said. "They brought all of their ingredients. We had them pair their dish with a wine from a local distributor."

Dodd said she thinks they made between $700 and $1,000 for the scholarship.

She and the chefs hope to make this an annual event.

Dodd said the cooking community has lost touch in recent years. Twenty years ago, she said chefs did get together more often.

"Through the years, you know, everybody went their own direction," Dodd said. "But we have a lot of new talent, young talent coming in, so kind of have the old guard and the new guard."

Dodd said they hope to reconnect the culinary community by helping young talent get involved with the art.

Chefs from The Loft, Lampy's Mediterranean Grill, PS Restaurant, Burger Monday, Simeon's, Sodexo and Maine's Corporation were involved.
