Sayre, PA (WBNG Binghamton) Around 1,300 people flocked to Howard Elmer Park in Sayre for the 7th annual Turkey Trot 5k.

That's the biggest crowd they've ever had.

When asked why the race has gotten so popular, Race Director Beth Herbst said, "Word of mouth, friends and family and community just wanting to be apart of this event, to start their Thanksgiving off on a healthy foot and just feel the energy of this holiday starting with this race."

Proceeds from the race go to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital and Penn-York Opportunities in Sayre.

Matt Kacyon from White Hall, Pa won the race with course breaking time of 15:48.
