Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Baseball fields and playground areas at Recreation Park will become more accessible to those with special needs.

On Friday, more than 150 students and community members are expected to volunteer at the park.

Upgrades to the fields are part of Phase I of the OurSpace at RecPark Project, which included nine months of planning and spending $140,000 on the upgrades.

Friday will mark the height of the phase.

Phase II of the project is in the planning stages, which officials hope to have complete by the summer of 2015.

Phase II will include improvements to the playground areas of the park and will work within a budget of $350,000.

OurSpace at RecPark is a collaboration between the City of Binghamton, Life Is Washable, Inc., Binghamton University's PWC, and the community.
