Chenango Bridge, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Chenango Valley graduate and U.S. soldier Matthew Fedish died Friday, August, 5. Family and friends are left with only positive things to say about the young man.

The 21 year old was involved in a motorcycle crash around 11:25 p.m., Friday.

Troopers from New Hampshire State Police responded to a crash in the town of Hillsborough.

Fedish and John Phillips, 38, were thrown off the motorcycles they were riding and died at the scene.

It's no struggle for family friends of Fedish to find enough good things to say about him as both a soldier and a friend.

Family friend Kali Aswad says even war couldn't stop him from smiling.

"He made the best out of any situation. He always was such a positive person. It rubbed off on everyone," Aswad said.

Aswad says Fedish was unselfish, and always put everyone ahead of himself.

New Hampshire Police say the investigation is ongoing.

No funeral arrangements have been made at this time.
