Candor, NY (WBNG Binghamton) - More than 400 people are coming together to remember a favorite teacher and friend.

Polly Tompkins passed away Wednesday morning after living with an aggressive form of breast cancer.

She was a teacher, aunt, singer and a big yankees fan.

A benefit is planned for her this Saturday.

It's called Polly Fest, and it will raise money to pay for her medical expenses.

Tompkins was a first grade teacher at Candor Elementary School.

Many people are looking forward to remembering her at the benefit.

"We will head to Polly Fest and celebrate in a fun happy way and hopefully tell lots of fun stories and laugh and have a great time in her honor," said Kate Handy, a Second Grade Teacher at Candor Elementary.

Polly Fest will be held from 5 to 10 on Saturday at Jack's Family Restaurant in Candor.

Polly's favorite band, "After Dark,"will perform.

Along with the Community Chorus she was part of.

Local businesses, the New York Yankees, and the YES Network donated items that will be raffled off.

If you'd like to donate and can't come out to the event...
