Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's been nearly five months since the waters from September's flood receded. But for many in the Twin Tiers, the pain they experienced then won't dry up as easily.
One group is providing shoulders to lean on.
It's called Project Renew. It's a round table for open discussion about life after the flood. The purpose is to bring people together who have been affected by the destruction so they can share there stories and continue to find ways to cope.
"Our goal is to join the community together get people talking to one another. It really helps in the healing process as people deal with what really is grief and loss," said Project Renew Team Leader Corey Bryant.
Project Renew is provided free to the public by FEMA and the New York State Office of Mental Health.
The group holds meetings at the Vestal Library each week and hopes to start up groups in other areas of Broome and Tioga counties.
It's completely confidential.
