Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A popular conference on Rod Serling is moving from its usual location at Ithaca College to Los Angeles.

The Rod Serling Conference is dedicated to continuing on the film maker's mission of educating the next generation.

Serling is a former professor of master-level classes at Ithaca College.

The conference includes a script writing competition.

Prizes will be presented to winning students at the conference in November.

Melissa Gattine, a committee member for the conference, said the move allows them to spread Serling around.

"We thought it would be really great to tie into our satellite campus in Los Angeles," Gattine said. "Every year, we have hundreds of students who go out and actually work in the industry and take classes. So we sort of tie that in to Ithaca college and be out in the industry where all the movies are taking place."

The exact date of the conference has not been decided, but it will be in the first two weeks of November.
