Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Do you have stress in your life? That was the topic at the Binghamton Rotary Lunch.

This week's guest, Mary Pat FitzGibbons, spoke about the health problems associated with stress.

FitzGibbons says stress not only takes a toll mentally, but it can cause physiological problems when it comes to healing from wounds or recovering from sickness.

"Stress creates changes in our body, physical changes, chemical changes. And it causes major cellular difficulty and that is the underpinning of all diseases," said FitzGibbons.

She says one of the most common reasons for stress is hanging on to past pain or trauma.

She taught the audience some simple breathing exercises to do anywhere to help reduce everyday stress.
