Route 17 Roadwork to Cause Delays

Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) As work continues on the Prospect Mountain Project, you might want to avoid the Route 17, I-81 North interchange on Wednesday evening.

The New York State Department of Transportation will begin paving work on Route 17 East, Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The paving work will close the on-ramp for I-81 North in the City of Binghamton. All motorists will be detoured to exit 4 for Hillcrest/Binghamton. Signs will be posted to guide drivers back to I-81 North.

And, also starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, drivers may encounter lane restrictions on Route 17 East from exit 71 for Airport Road and Exit 72 for Front Street in the City of Binghamton.

The DOT expects all the work for both projects should be done by midnight.
