(WBNG Binghamton) The SUNY Chairman says he will be stepping down by the end of the year.
Carl T. Hayden submitted his letter of resignation to state lawmakers today.
Hayden has served as chairman of the SUNY Board of Trustees since 2007.
During this time, he says the schools faced its biggest challenges with the economy,
But now, he sees a bright future, with the state utilizing SUNY's intellectual capital to spur on economic recovery.
In a statement, SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher says it was Hayden's leadership that got SUNY through the tough economic times.
Hayden assures the state that his departure is on good terms, and that the board will be in good hands.
