(Media Release)

Town of Union Deputy Supervisor Rose Sotak announced that with the
potential of heavy rains predicted early next week due to Tropical Storm Sandy the Town of Union will not be able to collect leaves that have been placed curbside for pickup.

The Town is asking residents not to place any more leaves in the roadway and to rake leaves already curbside away from the gutter line, making sure stormwater catch basins and drainage channels are clear of all debris.

Deputy Supervisor Sotak wishes to let residents know that the Town is taking proactive measures with the potential impending storm. With so many residents still recovering from the effects of last year's flooding, concerted efforts are in place at the Town with crews taking precautions and preparing.

All pump stations are being checked and verified as running.

The Town appreciates residents assisting in clearing wherever possible for proper draining which will help minimize the impact of the potential storm.

Curbside leaf collection will resume as weather permits.
