Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A house fire in the town of Maine that called seven departments to the scene has been ruled accidental, according to fire investigators.

The fire started just after 1 p.m. at a house on State Route 26.

The exact cause of the fire has not been determined but Broome County fire investigators said it was accidental and appears to have been an electrical issue.'

The fire started in the living room of the home.

Maine's fire chief Louis Richardson said so many other departments were called to help because it was such a big fire. He added some of the other departments may have been shorthanded Sunday.

Of the seven departments called to the scene to help, some of those included Whitney Point, West Corners and Endicott.

Richardson said less than half of the house was damaged. No one was home at the time of the fire.
