Sidney, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A settlement is reached with Sidney's largest employer over contamination.

Now, more than $900,000 will be paid out by Amphenol to those who say they've been affected by chemicals used to clean electronics.

According to court documents, nearly 200 plaintiffs will be splitting $725,000 while $200,000 will be set aside for those who come forward with similar claims over the next year.

It all stems from 1984, when Amphenol discovered soil contamination around its chemical storage facility, which spread to nearby properties, affecting air and groundwater at those homes.

Residents took legal action in 2011, with the lawsuit eventually making it to federal court.

With the settlement, Amphenol did not admit liability or fault.
