Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Broome-Tioga BOCES Special Education students showed off some flashy moves to rally spirits for the Special Olympics competition.

The students surprised the audience with a flash mob in the middle of the pep rally for the Special Olympic athletes Friday afternoon.

More than 100 students participated in grooving to the "Cha-Cha Slide."

Physical Education Teacher Matt Savage says the students practiced for the past two weeks during gym class.

Savage said the athletes look forward to competing all year.

"It's their time to perform, show what talents they have. It's all on their own ability level. They love it, they look forward to every event that they have," Savage said.

The Special Olympics will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Chenango Valley High School.

Savage says he also wanted to teach the students the dance so they would be comfortable at their prom.
