Norwich, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) The Chenango County Sheriff's office said a man tried to kill his former girlfriend when he beat and robbed her and left her to die on her driveway.

Deputies were called at approximately 6:45 a.m. Friday to Bourbon Street in the Maple Grove Trailer Park in the town of Norwich.

There they found Lucinda Knoll, 39, of Bourbon Street, severely beaten. She was transported to Wilson Hospital for "serious head trauma" and remained in critical condition Friday evening, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office arrested William H. Danielson, 48, of County Road 4 in Oxford, and charged him with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery, both felonies.

He was arraigned Friday in Chenango County Court and taken to the Chenango County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Norwich Court on Jan. 2.

The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who was in the area of Maple Grove Trailer Park at approximately 6 a.m. who may have seen any suspicious activity to call their tip line at (607) 337-1921 or (607) 337-1863.
